This is my review of Star Twinkle Ep 17 and the Blue Cat is back for another caper! So brace yourselves for BLUE CAT'S 7!!

Episode seventeen of Star ☆ Twinkle has our PreCures return to the Planet Zenny in search of the next Princess Star Colour Pen, where a certain space thief also appears again. The girls returned to the same planet of riches after detecting the Virgo Princess Pen (Which why they didn't detect it the first time they were on the planet?)

 The Blue Cat is back
PreCures touch down on Zenny, where they quickly encounter the Blue Cat. She knows that they are going after the Virgo Princess Star Colour Pen, and asks to team up with them. The Pen is located in Drasms Mansion, as too is a lot of treasure.
Check out that dragomaw front entrance!

Blue Cat with PreCures and their alien allies - so Blue Cat's 7, anyone?

Purunce adamantly refuses to team up with the Blue Cat, also dropping a lot of Mao merchandise in the process. Either way, the girls think it would be better if they attempt to negotiate with Master Drasms first.

They traced the signal to Drasms' castle and the Blue Cat claimed that the Princess Pen is in there. She want the girls to help which Prunce objected but he still keep mementos of the Blue Cat's alter ego, Mao-chan, and the girls reluctantly agreed. All in the name of fanboying, er, fanjellying...

Drasms suggests a contest to decide who gets the Princess Star Colour Pens

Drasms isn’t exactly up for negotiating, and instead has our PreCures and their allies, including the Blue Cat, play a series of games – with the winner getting their hands on all the Princess Star Colour Pens (something like Games Without Frontiers meets Rischiatutto). The girls have no intention of agreeing, but Drasms forces them into his contest anyway. Master of the house, darling of the charm, ready with a handshake and an open palm...

Mao asks Purunce to help
Purunce still refuses to cooperate with the Blue Cat, the latter being a criminal, but that changes when she transforms into Mao and asks him for a favour.

Drasms heard their conversation and agreed that if the girls make it to the treasure room, they can take the Princess Pen. The girls and Blue Cat fell into a trap and were attacked by laser beams. But the Blue Cat used Elena's speed and a little seduction on Prunce to get them out of the room.

Elena puts her athletic abilities to use

The first trap that they have to deal with is a laser that fires whenever a sensor at a certain height is triggered. The Blue Cat, as leader of the operation, has Elena run around the room, so the laser fires at her. That gives the Blue Cat the opportunity to dismantle the trap, and everyone is able to move on.

 The Dragon Corps

Next, PreCures come face to face with the Dragon Corps: a group of elite warriors who serve as the master's praetorian guard. Since they refuse to transform and fight against people, well, dragons doing their jobs, they just choose to make a run for it. Next they encountered Drasms' Dragon guards but the Blue Cat used her disguise spray to change into their master and fool the guards. (BADAAAASSSS RUSE DE GUERRE...) Some trickery from the Blue Cat gives them a respite, but the girls end up venturing into a room with what might be an even more dangerous foe.

Space Cerberus

They come face to face with a space cerberus (one cyclopean eye and pair of massive tusks per head), which even the Dragon Corps themselves fear (and the watchdog+right-hand attack pet of the estate). This is a foe that the girls are willing to transform to fight, or at least they would if they weren’t frozen in fear. Oh, except one of them.

Hikaru tames the space cerberus

Hikaru is reminded of her own pet dog Yeti, an English sheepdog (think Max from the Little Mermaid), and has absolutely zero qualms about jumping onto Fluffy and rubbing its belly. Everyone is pretty dumbfounded that Hikaru is able to tame the beast so easily.

Blue Cat and Cure Star

The group arrives in Drasms’ treasure room, where the Blue Cat starts gathering up treasure – including items from the destroyed Planet Rainbow.

They finally arrived at the treasure room where the Virgo Princess Pen is. Our Blue Cat saw treasures that belong to the Rainbow Planet and immediately took those. Elena noticed that the Blue Cat had a genuine smile upon looking at the Rainbow Planet Treasures.

However, Drasms refuses to give up his treasure trove, and opts to destroy it instead. And so the others transform into PreCures to stop him, but they soon have to face another threat.

However Drasms send a robot with long arms and it seek to destroy the Rainbow Planet Treasures. The girls transformed and tried to stop it which they claimed those treasures are very precious to the Blue Cat.

Kappard appears

Suddenly Kappard appeared and steal Drasms' imagination to create a new weapon.

Kappard shows up, and uses Drasms’ imagination to power up his weapon. He goes after the Virgo Star Colour Pen. Cure Star and Cure Soleil focus on him, whilst Cure Milkyway and Cure Selene deal with the mook soldiers.

Shoryuken!

Kappard grabs the Princess Star Colour Pen, but some interference from the Blue Cat allows Cure Star to knock it away from him. Cure Soleil catches the Pen, and is able to power up her attack (the Virgo power-up consists of ...).

Kappard almost got the Virgo Princess Pen but Blue Cat distract him and Cure Soleil used it to activate Virgo Soleil Shoot. (Although it looks the same as normal Soleil Shoot to me) The girls then defeat Kappard's new weapon and he retreated.

PreCures then unite for their finishing move, sending the enemy retreating.
After the battle, Drasms is happy to give up his treasure – particularly the Pen, as that means that the KNotraiders won’t keep coming back.

 Virgo Fuwa

Virgo Star Princess

Afterwards, PreCures revive the Virgo Star Princess. They now only have five Princess Star Colour Pens to go, one of which is still in the enemy’s possession.

The girls used the new Princess Pen to revive the Virgo Princess and Drasms kept his promise for the Cures to keep it. Although the Blue Cat told Drasms that in exchange for the treasures, quid pro quo, the girls were suppose to join the Dragon Guards which they declined.

Drasms welcomes PreCures into the Dragon Corps

Blue Cat pretty much tells Drasms that he can have PreCures become part of the Dragon Corps, so that is exactly what he arranges, with tailor-made uniforms for the first human and female recruits ever in his praetorian guard regiment. However, the girls have their own commitments, though they do promise to return should something really bad happen.

We end with the Blue Cat lamenting not getting the Pen, but saying that she will have the last laugh next time.

Our Blue Cat watched from afar and claimed she will get her chance to claim all the Princess Pens from the Cure girls in the end...

I really like this Blue Cat, so I am certainly happy to see her back once again. This episode was also a lot of fun; the Blue Cat is quickly becoming a favourite character of mine.
Lots of really fun silly moments here, from Purunce being a Mao mega-fan to Hikaru taming Fluffy (the space cerberus), and plenty of others besides.
Star ☆ Twinkle has been a lot of fun so far, and things have just got even better with our favourite Blue Cat’s addition. I’m glad she is a recurring character, but maybe, just maybe, she’ll end up becoming part of the main cast. I’m sure we’ll have an answer to that in a few weeks’ time.

Another Blue Cat episode and the mystery thickens about our Alien Cat Burglar! We learn from Drums that the Blue Cat is like Robin Hood who gave the riches to the poor so she is not doing it for the riches. Next was the way she saw the Rainbow Treasures which Prunce mentioned in Episode 15 that the Rainbow Planet has extincted so it is possible that our Blue Cat's goal to gather all the Princess Pens might be related to the Rainbow Planet itself.

The whole episode is like a caper film, think the Ocean's saga, as the girls avoided all sort of traps by Drasms. The best was taming Fluffy which even the Dragon Guards were afraid of it. Kappard is still very lame with his power after stealing Drasms' imagination and oh yeah, the Virgo Princess was revived. Despite the flaws, it is interesting to speculate on our Blue Cat's true motives and her relationship to the Rainbow Planet.

MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION:
We get our very first Blue Cat focus episode -- and did it make me feel shocked? Aloof Ally Tsundere who is also a tensai-prodigy? Squeeeee!!! And also she's Space Lupin Hood (robs the toffs, and gives away her loot to charity)? Definitely going to check my blood pressure...
The Drandy's Place: guys what a space toff cave! Drasms has something far more, that makes the original Batcave look like a sommarstuga!
Mao-the Blue Cat leads like... a triple life? Pop singer, master thief, justice vigilante...? When she becomes a schoolgirl and a magical girl warrior, what will her daily schedule look like?
Purunce's Broken Pedestal: never had a fanboy, or fanjelly, been through so many tears.
Perfume of Disguise: Where can I get a bottle of this, first hand? And does it smell more like Old Spice or Rive Gauche?
The Fall of the Rainbow Planet: Remember that certain world where everyone was petrified? Apparently, Mao-the Blue Cat is the sole survivor. Oui, she even got pissed when Drasms laid as much as a talon on her loot from the Rainbow Planet and threatened to completely destroy it. If that is not a trauma trigger for recalling the fate of her lost homeworld, what is it then? And does her backstory tie in with the 'Raiders at some point? (Theory storming ensues)
On the Pen front, with Virgo, we have seven Pens, five to go. And all three earth signs, aside from our second mutable one -- since we got Sagittarius, that makes half-way across all mutables. So why not to see how it goes down as well?
Power-Up:

Fuwa (Maidwa):

Princess:

This week the girls are back on Zenny, and this time they are working alongside our Blue Cat to work around Drasm’s traps he has set for them after he declared he will take the Princess Pens for himself!
It was fun to see the girls work together, especially since their had great chemistry with one another. But while this episode had a lot of entertaining moments, as it turns out, this led us to another major clue pointing to the importance of Planet Rainbow. The planet was first brought up in Episode 15 when the Rainbow Necklace was up for grabs. During that time we learned about its inhabitants tragic fate, and this week,  there were strong implications of  the Blue Cat’s connection to the planet, and how she is among the few, if not only survivors, especially with her sentimental attachments to its treasures.
But there was one thing that stood out to me, and that was why did Blue Cat look at the rainbow stones instead of the luxurious treasures? It wasn’t until the end of the episode when it finally hit me: It is very likely the two stones are either  family or friends. Remember, during the auction they revealed that the Rainbow Planet’s inhabitants all turned to stone. While some of us may have initially imagined they were petrified while retaining their original forms, seeing how they were Blue Cat’s main focus, it changes the entire picture. In fact it is both equally terrifying and tragic, especially when you realize about how these stones were amongst what was stolen and are being sold to various places. That’s pretty dark stuff when you really think about it.
This isn’t the end of Planet Rainbow’s importance to the plot, rather this is just the beginning. While the Blue Cat worked alongside the precures today so that she could complete primary objective, reclaiming the Rainbow Treasures, it seems her true goal is to gather all twelve of the Princess Pens to use for herself to restore/reclaim what I believe to be her home planet. And what better way to do that than to win the girls’ trust, and then steal them all at once from right under their nose?
Better yet, I am loving how complicated the Blue Cat’s character is shaping up to be. I’m looking forward to seeing how her grand scheme will play out.
In all, this week’s episode was a thoroughly enjoyable one. I happen to be a huge fan of Kaitou Thief characters, and this episode was all the fun and goodness you would expect. Hikaru in particular was quite fun to watch, especially with how she was sharp enough to notice the small details, such as noticing Blue Cat’s tail when she was impersonating Drum to throw the guards off their tracks. Or better yet, her enthusiasm when she saw the Space Cerberus. While everyone was freaking out, at some point she had ran straight towards it and latched herself onto its stomach to give it a belly rub, successfully ‘taming it’. Prunce was also hilarious with the way he is torn between remaining as Mao’s fan, and being enraged with her betrayal. I died when all of his fan goods fell out of his mouth.
Next week, we’ll be learning about Hikaru’s mum who is a mangaka!

IN NEXT EPISODE (18):

Next time involves Hikaru’s mum and manga. -- Terumi Hoshina is a graphic novelist, so there will be a first-hand peek into the industry... sadly, she is having crunchtime and needs a tad of support from younger girls who offer to help her...
