INTOXICATION - ONCE MORE

My cuppa tea... with a drop of scotch or something stronger.
Right now, I've found this biblical commentary about the kings and nations of the Earth being drunk on the wine of fornication, supplied by the Great Whore in Scarlet whom the commentator identifies with the Catholic Church.
It of course comments on the effects and symbolism of ethyl intoxication.
And now you'll know how it fits together.

On this I will draw to refer to the Cattle Raid of Cooley's plot, where powerful women make men drunk to seduce and subjugate them (talking a little of Holofernes and Sisera by the way, and of poison as lady's weapon)... and also to Iago as a subversive Ganymede... the homoerotic seduction signified by the cupbearer/catamite in classical and Islamic lore, Goethe's Book of the Cupbearer (Schenkenbuch), Iago's feelings for Cassio and insistence on calling him "fair Lieutenant" or "good Lieutenant" (and the possible pun on "love-tenant"), that may be lost in translation...

"all the inhabitants of
the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication"

the harlot who makes kings and nations
drunk with the wine of her whoredoms.

AND THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH HAVE BEEN MADE DRUNK WITH THE
WINE OF HER FORNICATION. The alluring cup which as a harlot she
had extended to them....that is, they had been, as it were,
intoxicated by the alluring cup she held out to them. What could
better describe the influence
on the people of the world,

in making them, under these delusions, incapable of sober
judgment, and in completely fascinating and controlling all their
power....

 she has been a false
church, a deceiving church, a corrupt church, a DECEPTION that
has influenced and made drunk just about all the world in one way
or another.

"The Roman harlot has so many paramours drunk with the wine of
her fornications, that the Bride of Christ, the Church, and the
Council representing her, scarcely receive the loyal devotion
of one among a thousand."
