Lützen - The Musical! (TRAILER)

So I had a number of filks about Gustavus Adolphus and the 30YW and I thought, why not make this countdown of this year an opera/musical with brand new filk opera? (The bunny I had for 2020, but due to unforeseen circumstances, including the pandemic, I had delayed it until this year)

The songs will be:

2nd of Nov) The War Still Goes On-Show Must Go On -- Dark tradition...to conform is law; the Inquisition... wounds they inflict still raw... On and on, does anybody want to take it anymore? Catholicism is mandatory now; forced conformism... who'll tell our story now? On and on, does anybody want to take it anymore? The war still goes on... Our homes and minds are breaking, the world we know still quaking from the war... that goes on...

3rd) KODOU-KIZUNA 30YW When darkness and violence threaten the land, there is whispered a foretelling, that someone will come forth from the snows of the North to free all the oppressed // From the streets of Leipzig to the Northern Sea, this autumn of 31 is for revelry! Hear the drinking song they sing, come and dance with us in ring, raise a tankard to Sweden and the Hero King //

4th) The Strings of Power (also from the upcoming Lannister musical)-Die Fäden in der Hand Who holds power every hour in hands thoughtful and discrete can pull anybody's strings just as they please, control complete...

5th) Without You-Ohne dich Oh, I'm so sore... and no songbird sings evermore...

6th IN MEMORIAM) Shiseru Eiyuutachi no Tatakai (Dermark, on this blog)+Hero King-Mithrandir Through kingdoms of starlight and realms of the sun...

A FLOWER AND A KISS

 HAPPY SAMHAIN ALL READERS!!!

A FLOWER AND A KISS

Lyrics by Pablo Herrero

Translation by Sandra Dermark

31st of October (Samhain), MMXXV

******************

For your sake, I'll leave home today

I will pack my luggage and I'll leave,

so far away...

Crossing in tears the garden gate,

and so full of memories, I shall leave

so far away...

***********

By day, I'll live in peace

while thinking of my loved ones

By night, I will be followed

by the starry sky...

You'll be the brightest light,

my evening star, my beacon...

I'm gone; I swear tomorrow

I'll again be by your side...

***************

CHORUS:

As I leave,

a flower and a kiss,

"I love you," you stroke my cheek,

that's all there is...

That is such a light luggage

for such an epic voyage,

for sorrow weighs the heart

that you shall miss...

I know that

beyond the ocean blue

there's a place where all our wishes

will come true...

Cobblestones 'neath my feet

will forge the path I meet,

I swear I'm gone; tomorrow

I will come to you...

************

I'll find a home for you and me

somewhere where the ocean meets the sky,

so far away...

With our hands and lots of our love,

I will make our dreams come true right there,

so far away...

**********

By day, I'll live in peace

while thinking of my loved ones

By night, I will be followed

by the starry sky...

You'll be the brightest light,

my evening star, my beacon...

I'm gone; I swear tomorrow

I'll again be by your side...

***************

CHORUS:

As I leave,

a flower and a kiss,

"I love you," you stroke my cheek,

that's all there is...

That is such a light luggage

for such an epic voyage,

for sorrow weighs the heart

that you shall miss...

I know that

beyond the ocean blue

there's a place where all our wishes

will come true...

Cobblestones 'neath my feet

will forge the path I meet,

I swear I'm gone; tomorrow

I will come to you...

CANCIÓN DE LA PIÑA COLADA

 CANCIÓN DE LA PIÑA COLADA

Letra de Rupert Holmes

Traducción de Sandra Dermark

3o de octubre, MMXXV

*****************

Me cansé de mi novia,

se nos fue la pasión,

como un disco gastado

con una antigua canción...

Y, mientras ella dormía,

mirando en la red social,

descubrí el siguiente anuncio

de mi chica ideal:

*************

"¿Te va la piña colada,

que te sorprenda llover?

¿No te va nada el yoga,

tienes cerebro, lo sé?

Si haces amor a medianoche

en las dunas, junto al mar,

soy aquella que buscas,

¡vamos tú y yo a escapar!"

*******************

y, aunque no soy nada poeta,

mis gustos yo le expliqué:

*******************

"Me va la piña colada,

que me sorprenda llover,

no me va comer sano,

sí el champán de Moët.

Nos vemos mañana a las doce,

quiero en persona quedar

en el pub de los O'Malley,

¡vamos tú y yo a escapar!"

***************

La esperé durante un rato

en aquel pub irlandés...

Reconocí su sonrisa,

su perfil y su buen ver.

¡ERA MI NOVIA DE SIEMPRE!

Y ella rio: "¡ERES TÚ!"

Nos reímos bien juntos,

y dije: "Sí, eres tú..."

*************

Me va la piña colada,

que me sorprenda llover,

y el rumor de las olas

y el champán de Moët.

Si haces amor a medianoche

en las dunas, junto al mar,

soy aquel que tú buscas,

¡vamos tú y yo a escapar!

Me va la piña colada,

que me sorprenda llover,

y el rumor de las olas

y el champán de Moët.

Si haces amor a medianoche

en las dunas, junto al mar,

soy aquel que tú buscas,

¡vamos tú y yo a escapar!

GAVEN TIL MOR - dansk vise

GAVEN TIL MOR - dansk vise

--Agarra esa escoba y sostenla.

MAMÁ: ¡TÚ controlas tus pensamientos, y NO tus pensamientos a ti!

WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT IAGO (GO, GO, GO)

WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT IAGO (GO, GO, GO)

A Filk by Sandra Dermark

written the 23rd of October, 2025

++++++++++++++++++++++++

DESDEMONA (GHOST):

We should talk about Iago, go, go, go

We should talk about Iago

For...

It was my wedding day

OTHELLO (GHOST):

It was our wedding

DESDEMONA (GHOST):

We were getting ready and there wasn't a cloud in the sky

OTHELLO  (GHOST):

No clouds allowed in the sky

DESDEMONA (GHOST)

Iago walks in, with a mischievous grin

OTHELLO (GHOST):

Thunder!!!

DESDEMONA (GHOST)

You're telling the story, or am I?

OTHELLO (GHOST):

I'm sorry, my darling, go on...

DESDEMONA (GHOST):

Iago says it looks like strife

OTHELLO (GHOST)

Why did he tell us?

DESDEMONA (GHOST):

In doing so, it cuts like a knife

OTHELLO (GHOST):

And I'm one of those clingy fellows...

DESDEMONA (GHOST)

My spouse wound up taking my life!

OTHELLO (GHOST)

What a tragic day, but anyway

we don't talk about Iago!

*****************

EMILIA:

Grew to live in fear of Iago's plotting and his scheming

I could always hear him sorta not exactly seeming

I associate him with the sound of hissing snakes

hss, hss, hss,

It's a heavy lift, with him always teaming

Always kept everyone of their nightmares dreaming

grappling with intrigues when he your psyche overtakes

Do you have what it takes?

************

SHAKESPEARE:

An icy blue gaze, dagger at his side,

when he's got you fazed, you can't fight the tide

yes, he sees your worst dreams and feasts on your screams...

EVERYONE:

We don't talk about Iago!

************************

RODERIGO (GHOST):

He told me my girl would leave,

the next day, wed!

CASSIO:

He told me I'd lose my rank,

and that's what he said!

EVERYONE:

That's what he said!

OTHELLO (GHOST):

He told me my wife would be unfaithful

and thus, now we're both dead...

EVERYONE:

Your fate is sealed,

and your world turned on its head!

**************

CASSIO:

He told me that the life of my dreams

would be promised and someday be mine

He told me that I'd reclaim the rank

that I'd lost drinking much punch and wine

EMILIA:

Listen, Iago's on his way...

RODERIGO (GHOST):

He told me that the girl of my dreams

would be just out of reach,

she'd marry another...

Like I can hear him now...

CASSIO:

Hey you,

I want not a sound out of you!

EMILIA:

Go Iago,

Go, no go go Iago,

I really need to know about Iago,

give me the truth, and the whole truth, Iago!

LUDOVICO:

Desdemona, your boyfriend's here!

EVERYONE:

Time for supper!

(Everyone sings their parts in a madrigal)

We should talk about Iago, go go go

We should talk about Iago!

POEMAS SOBRE LA ESPERA (GLORIA FUERTES, DR. SEUSS)

Gloria Fuertes, TODO ESPERA QUE TE ESPERA

Todo espera que te espera,

a la ola,

la playa con su arena.

Espera ser flauta el pito,

el huevo espera ser pollito,

la flor espera ser pera.

El gusano de seda espera ser capullo,

el capullo espera ser mariposa,

la mariposa espera ser otra cosa,

la otra cosa espera ser otoño,

el otoño espera ser invierno,

el invierno espera ser cuaderno,

el cuaderno espera ser libro,

el libro espera ser leído.

Todo espera que te espera:

a la ola,

la playa con su arena.

El relámpago espera ser trueno,

el trueno espera ser rayo,

el rayo espera ser lluvia,

la lluvia espera ser mayo,

mayo espera ser flores.

Todo espera que te espera

***************************

Dr. Seuss, THE WAITING PLACE

Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come,

or a plane to go or the mail to come,

or the rain to go or the phone to ring,

or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No

or waiting for their hair to grow.

Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite

or waiting for wind to fly a kite

or waiting around for Friday night

or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake

or a pot to boil, or a Better Break

or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants

or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.

Everyone is just waiting.

Somehow you'll escape

all that waiting and staying.

You'll find the bright places

where Boom Bands are playing.

OTHELLO AND IAGO: OR ONCE UPON A NEWT

OTHELLO AND IAGO: OR ONCE UPON A NEWT

Well, Othello done as a school play is as original an idea as "for once, leading characters don't get to act in the play" in The Ember Island Players (though the Dornish arc makes, just for fanservice, shipping, and a little excitement, no use of the latter). Think of that: Othello done as a school play. In Fictionland, as the School Play article on TV Tropes proclaims, the most common dramas to be staged, both written by the Bard of Avon, are Romeo & Juliet for teenagers and MSND for primary school children. Othello is considered too controversial (steamy, and allegedly racist) to be performed by teens in the average fiction series. I loved the daring premise of having this for a school play. So I loved the fact that I (in Game of Wands) did one of my favourite Shakespeares for a change. --this was written in 2015

After noticing the astounding lack of instances of Othello as a School Play in canon, Idlewild (a pretty recent example from this very decade, 2020s) being the only instance so far listed on TV Tropes, I recalled my Othello School Play in Game of Wands, my ASoIaF Hogwarts AU, and the result is a new gaiden for El semen de los ahorcados (Les Mis Hogwarts AU), in which an amateur production of Othello for Shakespeare Day the 23 of April (taking place in the leads' third year, so they're 13), performed at Hogwarts by the core members of AS-SORTED, goes completely haywire and turns into something very similar to other School Play episodes, most often anime (Cinderella in Fruits Basket, Journey to the West in Love Hina, Mac**th in Space in Jimmy Neutron)... no longer a serious adaptation, but one stuck with JoJo's references, Star Wars references, even a part where Iago (Montparnasse) and Othello (Bossuet/Lesgles) fight each other with quidditch bats, that is obviously a reference to Jamón, Jamón

Things started to fall apart when Cosette, who played Desdemona, caught the mumps and had to be quarantined in the Hospital Wing... at which point Montparnasse (who was already stealing rhe rehearsals as a flamboyant Iago Sissy Villain - think Zoisite, Fisheye, and Cytomander rolled into one!), suggested that Éponine (the producer/director) cast Enjolras as Desdemona, as a joke, but 'Ponine took it seriously (Enj with his fair skin, sapphire eyes, and golden hair that he kept long --until fifth year--, would make a perfect Desdemona, also this universe's Éponine being a yaoi fangirl and casting 'Parnasse as Iago for obvious reasons saw all the possibilities between Enj as Desdemona and the male cast!).

As a result of this, Grantaire wanted the part of Cassio to be able to kiss the new Desdemona, so he gave Courfeyrac some newt potion and had him say "if things are this way, I am a newt!" to turn poor Courf into a newt (whom Combeferre found and kept in a fishtank). This turns out to be the backstory for R himself becoming a newt this way in Book 1 (the one where Javert takes the helm and the house system becomes more or less a caste hierarchy). It also explains how Combeferre found out that the cure for the newt potion is a true love's kiss.

From these changes on, the play went completely off the rails, with everyone's butterbeer spiked with firewhisky in the drinking scene, Musichetta as Emilia wearing a very Leia-like fanservicey bikini, JoJo's references galore, the quidditch bat duel previously mentioned, and Combeferre as Ludovico finding a very familiar newt on the stage, kissing him, and a half-naked Courfeyrac in human form (no longer a newt) introducing himself as Mercutio, who survived and left Verona --the finale has him asking for Ludovico's hand and starting a threesome with Cassio and Ludovico (also, Desdemona is not quite dead, thanks to her stand Molitva --a stand that takes the form of Marija Serifovic in a suit!). In the final battle everyone turns out to have stands (aside from the male cast's lightsabers and the female cast's blasters), and these stands are different from patroni (according to StrixAlluka, you can have both a stand and a patronus; a stand is a personification of your willpower and personality, while a patronus is more like a spirit animal). The stands only crop up at the end of this gaiden, but this being a universe where everything except resurrecting the dead is possible, it is possible that these characters still had stands in the main saga, only that, being more experienced Hogwarts students (4th-7th year), they rely more on magic.

(Kipling by Dermark)

++++++

o ver tus propias creaciones rotas,

y agacharte y recrearlas con utensilios gastados...

++++++++++

(MI ESTROFA FAVORITA)

Si puedes reunir todas tus ganancias

y arriesgarlas a un solo cara o cruz,

y perderlo todo, y partir de cero,

y ni respirar palabra sobre tu pérdida,

++++

Si puedes forzar a tu corazón, a tus nervios y a tus músculos

+++++++++++

ENJOLTAIRE XMAS FIC (HOGWARTS AU)
