In such case, after the young people have escaped, the hero tells his fiancée, or bride, that he must leave her for a short visit to his own family. She warns him against certain specific acts which will bring on magic forgetfulness: kissing [...]. He breaks the prohibition, and loses all memory of his bride. She realizes what has happened and undertakes to overcome the magic forgetfulness. Frequently this does not occur until after the hero is about to marry again or even until after his marriage. In one series of tales she bribes the new bride to let her sleep beside her husband. He awakens on the third night and recovers. Or, in some cases, the forgotten bride may simply attract attention in some unusual fashion. For example, she places three lovers in embarrassing positions and arouses gossip. Or she magically stops the wedding carriage of her husband and his new bride.

In one way or another she always succeeds in the end, and the hero chooses her instead of his new bride, [p. 90] sometimes remarking that the old key which has been found again is better than a new one.

Before being reunited she still has to win him from the wife that he is about to marry and especially to cause him to recognize her, since he has forgotten all about her. To do this she sometimes takes service as a maid and buys with three jewels the privilege of sleeping with her husband three nights. The story always ends with the reunion of the couple and a happy marriage.

¿Qué hace el minino con un paquete de etiquetas y un gran lápiz rojo? Está marcando su cartera y su caja de pinturas para que no se extravíen.

WHO STARS IN 2010S (BBC/PBS) LES MIS?

 Les Misérables, the BBC's song-less adaptation of Victor Hugo's epic 1862 novel, is stacked with stars – including the likes of Olivia Colman, Lily Collins and David Oyelowo.

Though fans of the long-running musical will be wary about the decision to ditch the singing, rest assured we're in good hands: the six-part series has been penned by Andrew Davies, the man behind top notch adaptations including Vanity Fair, Pride and Prejudice, Middlemarch, and War & Peace.

Enjolras: This barricade is made of more than cobblestones and bedsteads: it is made of hopes, ideals, of love for our fellow men. We fight for the wretched of the earth, and if we die, we go to our deaths with joy! Long live the Republic!
Through a melee of agony, smoke, and fire, the insurgents are killed. Gavroche is shot down as he picks bullets off corpses, and Enjolras and his drunken friend Grantaire bravely face a firing squad as comrades and brothers.

PS. In this film Enj looks like Freddie Mercury and R like Lefou - but I am not responsible for these casting decisions.

Enjolras played by Joseph Quinn

Who is Enjolras? A student and revolutionary who leads the Friends of the ABC, and encourages Marius to join their fight against the establishment.

Where have I seen Joseph Quinn before? Quinn recently played the central role of Leonard Bast in the BBC adaptation of Howard's End, and has also appeared in Game of Thrones (as Koner), Dickensian and Timewasters.

Who is Courfeyrac? Marius' best friend, and a student revolutionary who is committed to fighting alongside Enjolras when the time comes.

Where have I seen Archie Madekwe before? The young actor has played Eddy in Informer, Jackson Bailey in Hang Ups, and Luca in Fresh Meat.

Grantaire played by Turlough Convery

Who is Grantaire? One of Marius' drinking pals and a student revolutionary. He doesn't take things quite so seriously as Enjolras or Courfeyrac, but despite his drunkenness he is committed to the cause – and to his friends.

Where have I seen Turlough Convery before? You may recognise him as Tom Harry from Poldark. He has also played Liam in My Mad Fat Diary, Stingray in the Black Mirror episode White Christmas, McNeish in Lovesick, and Declan in Doing Money.
