STRANGE TUDOR LAWS

In Tudor times, there were some pretty odd English laws:

  • Woolly hats should be worn by everyone on Sundays (to support the English wool trade).
  • Courtiers should not wear cloaks (to reach their swords easier).
  • Purple cloth and brocade could only be worn by the high nobility (the same law applied to most royal courts of the same era, in fact).
