RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW; WE PUT THE OFFER OUT

Hugtto! Pretty Cure
Episode 24 - My Own Review

RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW; WE PUT THE OFFER OUT

The episode begins with learning about an upcoming night pool event.
When they arrive, it turns out that the Night Pool isn’t exactly what we were expecting...

Expectations.

Reality.

The association president arrives, and decides to get the help of the others to prepare the Night Pool. Of course,  after a quick trip to Hugman the girls get to work.
The upcoming night pool festival organized by the local town community. However the theme was not attractive to attract a bigger (ie mainstream) crowd as such the girls were given a budget by the community to make it more stylish.

As the preparations are underway, the other girls talk a bit about Hana. After everything they have been through recently  – and they are grateful for that.

Bishin is given the role of Customer Specialist at Cryasse Corporation
Over at Cryasse, a New System is put into place. Gelos is the new General Manager, Bishin joins as Customer Specialist, and Ristle/Listol will continue to be the director’s administrative assistant. Of course, the president is George Kurai, whilst Traum is the advisor (and we expect Ristle to pull out the Iago stops as a result of being demoted and replaced!).

The girls dive into the pool
With all the preparations complete,  the others finally get to dive in. Lots of familiar faces also join the party, including Hana’s and Saaya's teacher – who is expecting a baby.

On Emiru's swimsuit:
On Homare's swimsuit: AT LAST SHE WEARS SHORTS!!

Charalit shows up
Turns out that Charalit has been working on online videos, and just recently managed to reach a new personal best when it comes to his number of viewers: 283. Charalit isn’t the only familiar face to show up, either.

Papple is there, too. (In a most revealing swim-ensemble)
Charalit and Papple are no longer with Cryasse Corporation, so the girls don’t have anything to worry about. After those two have said their bit, they wander off somewhere.

CHARALIT: Masters of the night...
PAPPLE: Master and a half!
CHARALIT: Video-sharing influencer...
PAPPLE: Don't make me laugh!
(Sung in Baron-Cohen and Bonham-Carter voices. Honestly, these two ex-Cryasse cadres remind me of no other Thénardiers!)

Gelos and her underlings watch over the Night Pool
Gelos is able to collect some toge-power from the Night Pool. Before we get to the monster of the week, though, Lulu and Emiru sneak off together.
Emiru and Lulu perform
They went and changed into their stage outfits, as they perform at the Night Pool. During their performance, Gelos summons a Wild Theender.
The negative emotion of the week: Two boys who were angry for being scolded at for running (chasing a ball) near the pool. I can relate to that, as I have been usually more diplomatically forewarned for running around the edge of swimming pools myself - I know what it feels like and that this rule exists for safety reasons - making the pool-watch Unwitting Instigators of Doom. If they had gone more gentle instead of scolding at those kids...

Gelos’ Wild Theender. This big fat watermelon is making me thirsty...

There is a panic... However, for Lulu and Emiru, the show must go on.

The power of rock
Lulu and Emiru’s performance generates lots of asu-power, and even restores lost confidence.

Gelos has the theender attack, and that’s when the girls counter as PreCures.

The original team led by Étoile demonstrate the strength of everyone’s smiles, whilst Ma Chérie and Amour get to use their own special attacks before defeating the Wild Theender.

Jenos is quite nice to remind the girls that there is a fight to settle about...

Emiru and Ruru used the Future Pad to transform to singing idols (popstars) and put up a live performance at the pool. But when Gelos created an theender out of two boys who were scolded for running at the edge of the pool, the people's Mirai energy were being sucked away (making for some PTSD moments) but Emiru and Lulu were able to used their energy and singing to drive off the darkness.
Together with the others, they fight the theender, with Cure Ma Chérie and Cure Amour using their solo and finisher attackers.

Papple has something she wants to ask Emiru and Lulu

Like... shouldn't Lulu and Emiru be the ones centre stage in this pic?
Oh wow wow wow... Ex-Cryasse cadre pirates!! That threw us all off-kilter!
After the dust settles and everyone goes back to enjoying the Night Pool, Charalit and Papple reveal that they have started a new talent agency called Positive Tomorrow Productions (asu/-asse). They want Lulu and Emiru to be their first clients. Also, there is one more member who works at Positive Tomorrow Productions. A certain hefty Victorian with a pince-nez and goatee (guess who?)

Turns out that Daigan survived
That brings this episode to a close, and it had some really good stuff going for it.
Overall, this episode is more of an aftermath after last week's plot twist. A breather to relax and cool down (never better say) as an interlude between tense moments...

Meanwhile George is sitting on his throne all lackadaisy and taking it easy...

MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION
#UnEstateAlMare...

YAAAAAY... EMILU DEBUT IN THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCE!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

Not to mention what they look like in uniform <3
I get that Gelos has already debuted, but you’d think she would be a bit stronger. It honestly felt as though Gelos didn’t even try. Heck, after Dr. Trauma’s debut, her fight was well below the bar, and I am not impressed. It certainly didn’t help how her butlers appearance were weak as hell, making it feel as though they have have purpose to their existence besides being her accessories. And then to top things off, the fight couldn’t have been more boring. I don’t really care that this was supposed to be a ‘fun’ episode, they should have had a better follow up to last week’s fight, don’t drag it down again!
I was surprised to see Charalit and Papple suddenly thrown into the mix, and as the ones responsible for recruiting Emiru and Lulu to join their talent agency (I knew it was only a matter of time before they would be scouted by anyone). If anything, if Lulu and Emiru were to get busy with that, this will only further isolate them from the group, given that it seems they have contrived to find the dream they want to pursue.

Ristle reintroduced George to the new Cryasse Corporation with Gelos, Bishin, and Dr Traum as the new generals. On the other side, the girls met a reformed Charalit who became a small time Internet celebrity and Papple who now opened a talent agency and want to scout Emiru and Lulu as their first clients at the end of the episode.
Even Daigan (Which I am surprised that he is still alive after last week's apparent death) showed up at the end and thanked Saaya for trying to save his life.
It seems everything is still going according to George’s plans. Now more than ever. Honestly, I liked that we actually got to see at someone experience fear after having met the enemy. It is natural to feel that way. But what surprised me is how nobody but her mother noticed. And before long, it was something that was either quickly overshadowed by Emiru’s and Lulu’s performance, or will serve as an conflict that will grow over time. I honestly hope it’s the later, for story-telling sakes.

Lulu and Emiru remain as great as ever – their performance was amazing, and their new special moves are good too. Having them sign up to a talent agency is something I do like the idea of – even more so when that talent agency is made up of former Cryasse Corporation employees. Oh, and Daigan’s still alive and free. Good for him, I guess.

Daigan is freeeeee!:
Are these three really defectors from decadence/La Résistance:

Next week it looks like Homare will be back in the spotlight given her feelings for Harry. To top things off, not only Bishin will be making their (his? her?) debut and our favourite hamster’s secret is about to come out (about bloody time!). I am excited to see where this goes, hopefully it won’t disappoint.

Next time, the inevitable Homare and Harry episode. A few hints have been dropped in previous episodes about Harry’s past – I guess that will be revealed in episode 25.

IN NEXT EPISODE (25):

I would love our Étoile des Glaces to wear this tee, which would put the "marry" in Homarry!
(Oh, Ginny Weasley, of course, would totally have one in her wardrobe as well...)

But still it looks like they'll bleed him dry of negative emotions.
Allez-y, Étoile!! This is your chance to save him...

Oh, and it will also be the summer fête (omatsuri) episode of this continuity.
But the summer is only getting started as the girls goes to an actual night festival and tension between Homare and Harry rises. However Bishin makes their move and Harry's dark secret is finally revealed.
Hope this proves not to be a fête worse than death...
