COUNTDOWN TO LÜTZEN II: RHINITIS

Though the common cold is not life-threatening, I am currently afflicted with such a common ailment at the time of year. Nothing but rhinitis and a few tenths... yet I manage to do off with a half dozen tissues a day. It's always worse in the morning and disappears as the days go by...
I also take a few more (non-alcoholic) drinks each day to stay hydrated... and, while keeping thirst at bay, wish that this little condition would soon be over... Thankfully, blogging is not something that can be hampered significantly by the common cold, right?

FÖRKYLNING GÖR INGEN GLAD

Min ädevälskling du ädevär som en rodevos
rodevoddevos
en nydevyutesprudevungen skädelevär
då räcker armarna inte till
ja som den ljudelevuvaste musidevik
min älskade du ä-de-vä-de-vä-de-vär
förkylning gör ingen mänska gla.

LIFE WITH THE COMMON COLD

LIFE WITH THE COMMON COLD

It's far worse at night.
When your nose feels like it's full of cotton.
When it hurts when you breathe in through your lips.
It hurts when you swallow as well.
It's a ruthless struggle.
Sore throat, rhinorrhea, post-nasal drip.
Owwww.
It's impossible to fall asleep,
no matter how cozy the pillow.
The hours drag by like Galápagos tortoises in slow mo
as you wait for the distant sun to rise
and the distant new day to begin.
Last night I had to go through this calvary.
Tonight I have to go through it as well.
I hope tomorrow night my mucus has thickened
and this excruciating time of trials is over.
