GELOS AT THE VERGE OF NERVOUS BREAKDOWN

Hugtto Pretty Cure - Episode 34
My Own Review
GELOS AT THE VERGE OF NERVOUS BREAKDOWN

Gelos goes all punk
Over at Criasu, Gelos is going through a breakdown, lamenting about how her time has been escaping from her. She ends up getting a makeover, turning all punk - KISS style, anyone?

After her two ikemen followers are gone, (who are now working as a stall holder and construction worker) Gelos is starting to worry that her beauty will go away because of time and wished for eternal beauty. Her desperation reached low when she reverted to her real form in which she became a hardcore punk.

It explained why the generals of Crisis have their own reasons to join Crisis since they are promised that their desires will last forever and not wither by time. Like Papple who wished for the "Bubble Era" and now Jenos who wished for her beauty to stay eternal.

The members of the Fan Club end up being targeted by Gelos’s Wild Theender when she summons it. Of course Gelos's latest creation is an hourglass with an ID pendant. The source emotion? A clock-watcher. A woman who is tired and hopes that work is finished, mirroring the plight of Gelos herself, although in another scenario.

Gelos unleashes her toge-power

When it looks like the Wild Theender is defeated, Gelos arrives and unleashes her Toge-Power (Thorny-Power), turning the tables on PreCures.
The Fan Club boys stand up to Gelos, getting PreCures back into fight with their asu-power (morrow-power). It was cute to see the power of influence of inspiring both Kotori Nono and Fumito (and later Hinase) to have the courage to face Criasu; in the end, they were the reasons why Gelos failed, when she for once, after going all out put the precures in a corner.

They are able to defeat the Wild Theender, and Gelos retreats. Cadre eksit stage left, as usual.
Even when Gelos tried to power up the theender of the week, Kotori's belief on the Precures was strong that her energy (including the one she inspired in Hinase and Fumito) heal the girls to defeat the theender.

I like Gelos’s makeover, even if it does come from her being in a dark place. With her subordinates gone (now productive members of society as shown in this episode) and her time lost, I suspect we will see the end of her soon.

MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION
All right, this was a Hana-centric episode, so I limited myself to the cadres and the victims of the week in today's subplot. Especially the cadres. Plus, we see Gelos, as her sanity slips, change from flapper to KISS or Juggalo; which nails the final nail into the coffin for the Criasu time travel theory. I am quite shocked by how rapidly she has descended into madness. The elegant side of Gelos is no longer to be found, and has been effectively replaced by a rocker-image, who is a lot more brutal and powerful due to how desperate she has become to stop time. Her backstory certainly raises my curiosity, because she feels that everyone left her because she was no longer beautiful, so she is desperate to stop time to prevent her youth from slipping away from her— or something along the lines. Something like Frau Gothel or Snow White's stepmother...
So, she needs not a hug... but a cup of absinthe and a dose of Xanax. And her ikemen henchmen slash Paid Harem back for arm candy. Definitely. Seeing Takumi & Jinjin doing menial labour was also part of what made her snap.
For Gelos, it is also interesting and a bit off to see her go into a phase. Even though she didn't do much to indicate her fall to madness in the last few episode but we can tell what kind of person she is. Basically she only cares about her outer beauty and is worried that if her beauty is gone, she will lose everything. Although why the punk-rock image is a bit of surprising. (I was expecting her real form is an old lady, crone-witch style, based on such characters - think Gothel or Snow White's stepmother, ut supra!)
